Durie Design is a range of jewellery handmade by Lynn Durie.
She has mostly worked on a commission basis to date for people looking for individual pieces that incorporate something unique from their personality or lifestyle.
Always looking for a creative outlet that she could totally immerse herself in, she enrolled in a local jewelery making course in precious metals in 2004 and instantly knew it was for her. After a year or so of classes, Cormac Cuffe had given her a great platform to spring from and with much experimenting at home and multiple short courses in Birmingham School of Jewelery she finally began to create what she feels is something a little different.
"Colour is hugely pleasing to me in my work and I have found that resin is a great medium to merge with sterling silver to really make the silver 'pop'. Like silver it is also durable with longevity. New types of resin and new techniques are emerging constantly and it is a very exciting, modern and versatile medium to work in today. Plastics have traditionally not been seen as more than a cheap, throwaway, mass-produced material but when you handcraft it, it becomes a wonderful medium that has endless possibilities for unique, bespoke jewellery".
